Q:Dr. Seuss was a racist. The same as anyone who benefits from white privilege. Was he an active promoter of this system? No. A thousand times no. I think as usual our absolutism is showing. Dr. Seuss engaged in racist art. Did he also recognize the importance of critical thinking in children, and the problems with prejudice that are developed at a young age? Yes. Dr. Seuss was a racist as well as someone who recognized the problems with prejudice. We can not separate these two aspects.
